School begins

So I have now attended two days back at school.

Day one was pretty basic. We started a powerpoint presentation in "intro to computers" and did some free form writing in "Technical Writing". The other instructors pretty much introduced themselves and told us to have a good day.

Our Calculus instructor told us to buy either the abridged $40 text book or the bigger $147 book. He advised us to get the big one if we hadn't been in touch with math recently. I was still pretty set on the small book. $100 is a lot of money.

The bookstore was out, but they have some on order. On the way to our first real math class I ran into one of the more friendly guys in the class, he had bought the expensive one and said it was a good idea if you didn't have the background. No trouble. Now I am considering the big book but still wanting the small one.

First day of math class comes by and well I went anfd bought the big book. Sure I know what a polynominal, but even in highschool math I wasn't that great factoring. I spent most of tonight reading and working on it. I think I have a basic understanding now. woo hoo!

Schedule wise I start at 10 a couple of days and not till 3pm on thursday. Plenty of time for homework or what have you there!

Geology looks pretty cool, we did an overview of the course today and it is VERY geared towards exploration. This is called this and it is important because it can trap hydrocarbons. These areas are important because they are prime areas hydrocarbons might be found and several other comments.

We get to color in class. :D

I also started my first help desk shift last night, and am now working my way through the second one. I had 5 calls last night and maybe 2 this evening. Eventually night classes will start and things will get a little more hectic until then I have a TONNE of time to work on calculus.

That is all for now.
