Got back our mineral test this week, 98%. Although I think I should have been a little higher. We were instructed to only give properties we could actually tell by looking at it. Ie we know that calcite reacts with hydrochloric acid, but we can't use that one because we can't test it. I lost marks for saying Quartz was Hard, but not specifing that it was a 7 on the scale, I can't tell this by looking at it. On the other side of things I couldn't necessarily tell that it was harder than the other rocks. Oh well, 98% isn't bad.
Calculus is going ok. Higher derivatives suck. Although they are not really harder than most other problems, they take at least twice as long and give you at least twice as many places to make a mistake. We started normal and tangent lines today. These are much cooler, I can graph them and see what they look like. There is a certain amount of pleasure in putting in the given equation, watching the graph form, and then putting in your derived line formula and hitting enter and watching it intersect at the appropriate point at a right angle.
We have a test in geology next week. Pretty convinced I could do ok on it right now. So I am not planning on turning up the studying, I added a few more flash cards based on his review, but over all I am good to go.
What else is going on today. One year ago I started seeing Shannon, so that is pretty big news. Her best friend is having her birthday tonight, so she is going to go to that, with my blessing, but I am going to skip it as it's at a bar which I don't really dig on to much anyhow. I think we are planning on doing some dinner tomorrow night to celebrate our 1 year together.
Love you Shannon.
