Strike!

Although it is not official Calgary Transit is on the verge of going on Strike. I am both looking forward to it and dreading it.

It will force me to ride my bike to work, which is about 12km one way. It could potentially be very good for me. On the other side until it is, it will suck. :)

School went well. After losing round 1 to stats, scoring 76% on the first of two midterms after a very bad day, I managed to come back and score 100% on the second midterm and quiz right before it. In the end I managed to squeak out an A+ in the class. It was a relief to not have my row of +s interuppted.

30019 CMPN 269 Computer Networking A+
30109 CMPP 334 Java Programming Level I A+
30025 DRLG 220 Drilling Fund. for Exploration A+
30050 GEOL 380 Exploration Geology A+
30026 GEOP 296 Geophysical Data Processes II A+
30024 STAT 240 Statistics A+ 4.000

Straight across the board. That's what I am talking about. So we exit the first year with a 4.0 GPA. Can't complain about that.

In other news I recieved a $500 scholarship from Landmark Graphics. That was nice. I will be applying for it again. They hand them out to students in second and third semesters.

Work is still pretty up in the air though, not 100% sure what I am doing over the summer. Waiting to hear about a geophysics job, and if that falls through I am stuck at SAIT for the summer. I never get to leave. I feel like the place is the mob. hahahha.

On the relationship front, I am doing mostly ok. There are still nights where I miss Shannon intensley. I don't suspect it will go away anytime soon. I care about her and hope she knows that even if I do my best to not contact her. I figure it is easier for her if I don't. When I miss her she is the only one I want to talk to about it.

The strangest thing for me has been that the scarf she made me is the one thing that really triggers me emotionally, for good or bad. Sometimes I don't put enough appreciation into homemade gifts, but it is pretty clear to me that I should. This item she made for me with her love and two hands is probably one of the most important things to me right now.

Commuting RULES! There is a forum at roadbikereview.com that is devoted to commuting. I got a lot of help and tips there when I was doing it the last two years (new boss and new office location makes it harder now).

Also, feel free to look me up if you have questions--I'm happy to help.
