Vroom Vroom

Beginning earlier this year I began a quest of sorts to purchase an automobile. A CHEAP automobile. I plan on upgrading in about a year, once I have a real job.

So I began looking through classifieds. Then my boss mentioned one of the client support guys was looking to sell a car for about $2000. A little high, but they have 3 cars and just want to get rid of this one.

In the end it turns out to be a 1991 Honda Accord with a little surface rust. It is an automatic and runs well. It sports 291,000km. A lot perhaps, but in line for the age of the car.

So after much humming and hawing and convincing and unconvincing. I have decided to go for it. I would rather buy it from someone I trust than a dealer. So the inspection will cost about $70. The car will go for $1500. Insurance should run me about $80 a month. We won't talk about gas. My current usage model is envisioned as not using it to get to work, but using it for shopping, and getting places with the bike etc.

It will be the first vehicle I have owned in quite sometime and I am looking forward to it. Hopefully we can get all the details worked out by next week. It would be handy to have to get to the 5km race I am planning on entering on the 17th.

Cool! I sold my '91 Accord two years ago. Great car -- I have no doubt it's still running out there somewhere.
